Security shows how the key behind your node or your bond is held, and how to move it into a THORWallet Vault. A single key (Ledger, seed phrase, keystore) controls an operator address alone: whoever has it can make the nodes leave, unbond the operator's own bond or change the fee. A THORWallet Vault splits the key into shares on several devices, and every transaction needs the threshold of them, so one lost or leaked device cannot act.
Connect a wallet to see the checks for your own nodes or bonds. The network-wide checks below are live.
Live data, read
With the OPERATOR memo, which moves the operator role of all your nodes to a new address, for example a THORWallet Vault. Nodes keep running, providers and fee settings stay, and the operator's own bond entry moves with it. THORChain only accepts it when none of the old operator's nodes is Active, none of the new address's nodes is Active, the new address is not already a bond provider on those nodes, the HALTOPERATORROTATE mimir is off, and in the first half of a churn cycle (this cycle: blocks 28,203,871 to 28,225,471).
With REBOND: same node, same operator, and the bond keeps earning. THORChain checks that you are a bond provider of the node and never its operator, that the new address is already on the node's provider list, that no coins are attached and that HALTREBOND is off; the node may be Active. Each REBOND is one THORChain transaction (0.02 RUNE fee).
The operator key cannot send a provider's bond anywhere; LEAVE on a standby node returns the bond to the providers. It does set the operator fee on the providers' rewards, adds or removes providers, can make a node leave and can unbond the operator's own bond.
Securing is the effective bond of the active nodes, with bond above the hard cap not counted. Secured is the liquidity held in the vaults. The network aims for at least 1:1; below that the incentive pendulum pays nodes more to attract bond, above it liquidity providers get more.
No. Operator actions are THORChain deposits with a memo, signed by the operator wallet you connect. Anything that needs the node key inside the THORNode pod (mimir votes, node pause, ban and upgrade votes) is shown as the exact command to run on your node.
